Rat Cutlery: RC-4

By Mike Beckett

What if you could have only one? That's a question that pops up pretty regularly on the knife forums, what if you could only have a single blade, used for everything you need a blade for, what would you chose?

Fortunately for us RAT cutlery fans, the choice was made pretty simple. The RC-4 is the sweetspot in the RAT lineup. With a cutting edge just a smidge over 4 inches and an overall length of 9 inches, it comes in dead center of the RAT line and puts it just on the upper edge of what most people find comfortable to carry everyday.

And if it's carry your interested in, the RC-4 comes with one of the best factory kydex sheaths on the market. With it's innovative unriveted, foldover design, the sheath can be taken apart and cleaned out with ease. It offers beyond multiple carry options, Molle back, Molle clip, paracord method, horizontal, vertical, you name it. It also features adjustable tension so you can custom fit the draw to your personal tastes.

Big enough for most woodworking tasks and thick enough to handle whatever you throw at it, the RC-4 makes for a fantastic bushcrafter or general woodworking knife. If it's game your after, the full flat grind gives the RC-4 better than expected slicing performance. Cleaning fish, deer, hog....the RC-4 handles it all.

If I'm going to get stuck with just one blade, I'll make sure it's the RC-4.
